A software engineer in Seattle has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing around $300,000 from his employer, Zulily.com. The developer is accused of writing software code that redirected shipping fees from the online retailer into his own bank accounts, netting him around $260,000. He is also accused of using his position as a software engineer to manipulate prices on Zulily in order to purchase around $41,000 worth of merchandise at a discounted price. The hero allegedly had a document on his laptop titled “OfficeSpace project” which detailed a plan to manipulate audit logs and disable alarm logging in order to cover his tracks. The theft is said to have taken place between February and March.
